About

Hello!  I'm Kathryn.  I'm a recent graduate of a tiny liberal arts school in Maine, where I studied marine mammal biology.  I live for being out on the water watching whales, and I'm dead set on settling down in the Pacific Northwest someday.  I grew up in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio, which is where I'm living and working now.  For the past four years or so, I've been dreaming of taking a year to travel the world.  I've read blogs, analyzed maps, and joined travel networks; each Christmas, I've asked for a different Lonely Planet guide book.  I'm now in a kind of "in-between" space between college and the rest of my life, so I figure now's as good a time as any to hit the road and experience some new things.  I plan on going to grad school within the next three years, and after that, who knows where I'll end up.  I want to take advantage of this time where I don't have any academic or professional obligations because I honestly don't know when these circumstances will arise again.

So, I've got my itinerary, I'm slowly crossing off items on my packing list, and I'm adding to my travel fund with the money from my local job.  My goal is to leave in August 2012.  Ready.....GO.
